Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes have partnered with Canadian Tire and Global Television to give Hurricanes fans the chance to be part of a very special holiday tradition. The 15th Annual Canadian Tire/Global TV Teddy Bear Toss will take place at the Hurricanes December 4th match up against the Prince Albert Raiders. All fans are encouraged to bring along a new stuffed toy donation to the game. When the Hurricanes tally their 1st goal of the night the teddy bears and stuffed toys will take to the skies of the ENMAX Centre as fans are encouraged to toss their stuffed toys onto the ice.
All stuffed toys collected will be donated to some very worthy causes and local charities. Canadian Tire will be offering a special Teddy Bear Toss offer which includes a ticket to the game and a stuffed toy for $12.99 while supplies last!
Last season, Austin Fyten notched the 14th Annual Global TV Canadian Tire Teddy Bear Toss goal mid way through the first period on the power play to spark a shower of 2238 stuffed toys from the rafters. All of the stuffed toys found very worthy homes as the Hurricanes made donations to several local charities who were on hand to help sort, bag and count the gifts. In 07-08, Global TV, Canadian Tire and the Hurricanes shattered Calgary’s 2006 CHL record of 15,540 bears thrown at the 12th annual Teddy Bear Toss on November 30th, 2007. On that evening, 5202 Hurricanes fans tossed a CHL record 21,905 stuffed toys onto the ice at the ENMAX Centre after an early goal by Colton Sceviour, just two and a half minutes into the first period. The evening would then be capped off with an 8-2 drubbing of the Saskatoon Blades.
ANY local charities interested in registering volunteers to accept donations for this great cause are encouraged to contact the Hurricanes office via email by Tuesday, November 30th – firstname.lastname@example.org with your request including a detailed description of your organization, the number of stuffed toys you would be able to use and the number of volunteers you would be able to provide on the night of December 4th.
