Canes deal Tot

Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes announced Tuesday they have traded veteran Forward Phil Tot to the Tri-City Americans for a 5th round pick in 2013 and a 2nd round pick in 2014.

The Lethbridge Hurricanes would like to thank Phil for his contributions on and off the ice the past three seasons. We were able to fulfill his request to start a new chapter in his hockey career and wish him all the best. Hurricanes Head Coach and GM Rich Preston added “the second and fifth round picks are good assets that we can use down the road to acquire a player to fill a need or to use in the draft.”

Tot played three seasons with the Canes and had a breakout year in 2011-2012 after being hampered by injuries the previous two seasons. In his rookie campaign in 2009-2010 Tot registered 10 points (3G, 7A) and a year later he had a 21 point season in 58 games. The 18-year old from Calgary, AB finished with 45 points (14G, 31A) in 61 games last year. He was third in team scoring, was a minus 24 plus/minus rating and he added 37 PIM’s.
