Hurricanes Complete Blockbuster with Ice
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club announced Monday they have acquired overage forwards Matt Alfaro, Zak Zborosky and a sixth round draft pick in the 2018 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft in exchange for forwards Colton Kroeker, Brett Davis, a second and a fourth round pick in 2018.
Alfaro, 20, was undrafted in the Bantam Draft. The Calgary, Alberta product has recorded 39 points (13g-26a) along with 50 penalty minutes in 41 games this season. The 6’2”, 201-pound centreman has appeared in 243 WHL games all with the Ice recording 134 points (50g-84a) and 192 penalty minutes. He set career highs in goals (22), assists (26) and points (48) during the 2015-2016 season.
Zborosky, 20, was originally selected by the Ice in the fifth round (105th overall) in 2011. The speedy right-winger has appeared in 41 games this season with Kootenay potting 44 points (28g-16a) along with 14 penalty minutes. The Regina, Saskatchewan product set a career high with 32 goals and 68 points last season. He has registered 173 points (86g-87a) along with 73 penalty minutes in 237 WHL games.
Davis, 17, was originally drafted in the fourth round (78th overall) in the 2014 Bantam Draft. The Oak Bank, Manitoba product has appeared in 85 career games scoring 21 points (12g-9a) and 21 penalty minutes. Davis has recorded 11 points (7g-4a) and four penalty minutes in 29 games this season.
Kroeker, 19, was acquired by the Hurricanes from the Regina Pats last season just prior to the Trade Deadline. He appeared in 65 games as a ‘Cane scoring 40 points (11g-29a). He has netted 27 points (6g-21a) in 41 games this season.
