Hurricanes Doubled by the Pats 4-2

Regina, SK – The Lethbridge Hurricanes continued their three game road trip on Saturday in Regina against the Pats as the ‘Canes were handed a 4-2 loss at the Brandt Centre.

The Pats jumped out to an early 1-0 lead just 4:04 into the game as Libor Hajek snapped home a point-shot that beat a screened Logan Flodell to put Regina ahead; Cale Fleury and Jake Leschyshyn picked up the assists. The ‘Canes had a power play opportunity in the middle of the period but were unable to beat Max Paddock despite Calen Addison ripping one off the post. Lethbridge tied the game on their second power play chance in the period as Logan Barlage buried his fourth of the season, and third with the ‘Canes, to make it 1-1 with just 2:05 left in the first period; Addison and Taylor Ross earned the helpers. The power plays continued to come in the third period for the Pats and Hurricanes, but it was a shorthanded goal by Regina’s Fleury to make it a 4-1 game just 3:17 into the period as he outskated the Hurricanes to a loose puck and deked around Flodell who had charged out to try knock the puck free but failed to do as and Fleury put it into the empty net. The ‘Canes, with a power play, rounded out the scoring with 13 seconds left in the game as Brad Morrison tipped home his 18th of the year to make it a 4-2 final.

Shots were even 13-13 in the third period while the ‘Canes outshot the Pats 35-34 in the game. The ‘Canes went 2/6 on the power play and were 9/10 on the penalty kill.
