Hurricanes Edged 3-2 in PA
Prince Albert, SK – The Lethbridge Hurricanes continued their four game in five night road trip on Wednesday with a 3-2 loss in Prince Albert against the Raiders.
It was a fast paced first period that saw the Raiders outshoot the Hurricanes 17-11 in the opening period. The ‘Canes got on the board as Jake Elmer scored for the third straight game to make it 1-0 just 4:52 into the game; Jordy Bellerive and Brennan Riddle picked up the helpers on the goal. Prince Albert was able to tie the game just 2:05 later as Brett Leason beat ‘Canes starter Reece Klassen inside the far post to make it 1-1. On a power play, the Raiders were able to take the lead as Jordy Stallard scored his 24th of the season to put Prince Albert up 2-1 after twenty minutes of play.
The Hurricanes were the better team in the second period as they took to the Raiders, especially early. The ‘Canes tied the game as Elmer scored a beautiful goal for this second of the night at the 8:27 mark to make it a 2-2 game; Giorgio Estephan earned the lone helper. ‘Canes continued to buzz in the period, but couldn’t solve Scott as the game stayed tied. However, late in the period, the Raiders were able to pot a goal with 19 seconds left as Curtis Miske deked to the back-hand and roofed it to give Prince Albert a 3-2 lead after two periods of play. Shots in the second favoured the ‘Canes 11-10 in the middle frame.
In the third period, the Hurricanes pushed for an equalizing goal but failed to mount a come-back. The ‘Canes outshot the Raiders 8-5 in the final twenty minutes but Scott stood tall stopping all the shots he faced.
The ‘Canes were outshot by the Raiders 32-30 in the hockey game. The ‘Canes were 0/2 on the power play while they were 3/4 on the penalty kill.

The loss was the Hurricanes third straight defeat as they are now 14-15-2-0 on the season overall. The Hurricanes have dropped the first two of the four game road trip.
The Hurricanes will continue their road trip on Friday when they make their first of two trips to Brandon to face the Wheat Kings before wrapping up the road trip against the Regina Pats on Saturday to head into the Christmas break. Both games can be heard on 106.7 ROCK with Dustin Forbes.
