Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes returned to the ENMAX Centre on Friday for the first time in two weeks as they were handed a 5-1 loss by the Prince Albert Raiders.
The Hurricanes peppered the Raiders in the first period outshooting Prince Albert 21-9 in the game. The ‘Canes had an early five-on-three power play opportunity but failed to capitalize on the man advantage. Lethbridge pulled ahead 12-0 on the shots in the game but it stayed scoreless early. The ‘Canes opened the scoring at the 9:24 mark as Taylor Ross potted his fourth of the season; Jordy Bellerive and Dylan Cozens earned the assists on the goal as the ‘Canes led 1-0 after twenty minutes of play.
The Raiders pushed in the second period as they held the edge in play outshooting the Hurricanes 14-8. Prince Albert pulled even in the game when Sergei Sapego snapped home his third of the season to tie the game 1-1 6:26 into the middle frame. Raiders took the lead when Noah Gregor scored shorthanded at the 10:14 mark giving Prince Albert a 2-1 lead after forty minutes of play.
In the third, the Raiders added to their lead just 20 seconds in as Cole Fonstad made it 3-1 with his fourth of the year. Fonstad potted another goal just 2:12 later to make it a 4-1 Prince Albert advantage. The Hurricanes had a late game five-on-three but failed to capitalize before Gregor sealed the win with an empty-net shorthanded goal with 1:22 left to make it a 5-1 final.
The Hurricanes were outshot 15-7 in the third period and 40-36 in the hockey game. The ‘Canes went 0/8 on the power play while surrendering two shorthanded goals. The Raiders meanwhile were 0/5 on the penalty kill.

The loss for the Hurricanes drops their record to 2-3-0-0 on the season and 0-2-0-0 to start the year at the ENMAX Centre.
