Hurricanes Fall 6-5 in Calgary
Calgary, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes travelled to Calgary to face the Hitmen for the first time this season in hopes of their second straight win but it was the Hitmen that earned a 6-5 victory.
The Hitmen struck early as Mark Kastelic snapped home his fourth goal of the season on a two-on-one beating Reece Klassen low to the blocker side to make it 1-0 Calgary 6:22 into the game. Hitmen tallied again just 2:58 later as Jake Kryski buried on a three-on-two to make it 2-0 chasing Klassen who allowed two goals on seven shots as Carl Tetachuk came into the game for his first WHL appearance. Tetachuk stopped all three shots he faced. The Hurricanes had a four minute power play in the period but could not capitalize. Lethbridge outshot Calgary 17-10 in the first period.

Tetachuk made three terrific saves to keep the ‘Canes within a pair, but Calgary pulled back forward as Dakota Krebs scored his first of the season with under a minute left in the period to make it 4-1 at the second intermission. Shots favoured the Hitmen 18-12 in the middle frame.

Barlage potted his second of the night at the 18:03 mark to make it a two goal game again. The ‘Canes pulled the goaltender and pulled to within a goal as Jadon Joseph scored his first of the year on a redirect of a Danila Palivko point shot but that was as close as the ‘Canes would come falling 6-5 to the Hitmen.
