Hurricanes Fall 8-2 to Raiders
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes began a three-game homestand on Wednesday at the ENMAX Centre with an 8-2 loss to the Prince Albert Raiders.
The Raiders jumped on the Hurricanes early as Brett Leason beat Reece Klassen, who made his second straight start, just 16 seconds into the game to make it 1-0 Prince Albert. Just over two-and-a-half minutes later, the Raiders built on their lead as Sean Montgomery redirected one by the ‘Canes goaltender to make it 2-0. The Hurricanes cut the Raider lead in half as Jadon Joseph snapped home his eighth of the season at the 14:34 mark to make it 2-1; Zane Franklin and Ty Prefontaine earned the assists. Prince Albert was able to restore their two-goal lead as Justin Nachbaur tipped home his eighth with just 1:02 left in the first period. The ‘Canes were outshot 13-10 in the first period.
The Hurricanes out-chanced the Raiders in the second period as they peppered Prince Albert netminder Ian Scott with 19 shots, but could not solve the Raider goalie. Prince Albert, who had nine shots, struck twice. Curtis Miske on a breakaway deked and slipped the puck five-hole on Klassen to make it 4-1. Raiders potted another one as Cole Fonstad ripped home his 18th of the season with 5:09 left in the second period to make it 5-1 Prince Albert.
The Raiders added three more in the third period as Kody McDonald redirected a point shot by Klassen for his 30th goal of the season to make it 6-1. Prince Albert made it 7-1 when Montgomery potted his second of the night before Sergei Sapego made it 8-1. Keltie Jeri-Leon scored his seventh of the season to make it an 8-2 final.
The Hurricanes outshot the Raiders 37-34 in the game. Lethbridge went 0/7 on the power play and 4/5 on the penalty kill.

The loss ends a three-game winning streak for the Hurricanes and drops their record to 29-25-6-0 on the season.
