Hurricanes Handed 7-2 Loss by Pats

It was a track meet in the first period as many expected it would be between the Hurricanes and the Pats. The Hurricanes scored the lone goal of the period just 2:04 into the game as Calen Addison jumped up on a two-on-one and made no mistake going high glove on Pats goaltender Tyler Brown to make it 1-0 – Lindgren and Colton Kroeker picked up the assists. The Pats cut into the lead as Austin Wagner scored his second of the season at the 7:28 mark to cut the lead to 2-1. Just over three minutes later Regina tied the game as Adam Brooks scored his third of the season at the 10:53 mark tying the game 2-2. Shots through forty minutes of play were 36-30 in favour of the Pats as the game was tied after two periods.

It was all Pats in the third period as Regina scored five goals in the final twenty minutes. Filip Ahl netted his fourth of the season at the 6:52 mark giving the Pats their first lead. The Pats then scored three goals in a span of 1:16 as first Sam Steel scored his seventh of the season on a shorthanded breakaway at the 9:30 mark to make it 4-2 Pats. Wagner netted his second of the night at the 10:24 mark before Chase Harrison scored his second of the season just 22 seconds later to make it 6-2 Regina. Stuart Skinner was replaced by Ryan Gilchrist – Skinner making 37 saves in the game as he faced 43 shots. Pats added another as Jake Leschyshyn scored a power play goal at the 13:09 mark as the Pats went on to a 7-2 victory.

The Pats outshot the Hurricanes 13-5 in the third period and 49-35 in the hockey game. The ‘Canes went 1/8 on the man advantage while the Pats were 1/3.
