Hurricanes Acquire Overage Defenseman

Brandon, MB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club announced Tuesday that they have acquired 2001-born defenseman Kade Nolan from the Portland Winterhawks in exchange for a fourth round draft pick in 2023.

Nolan, 20, was originally selected by the Winterhawks in the fourth round (82nd overall) in the 2016 Western Hockey League Prospects Draft. The Rouleau, Saskatchewan product has appeared in 10 games this season collecting one assist with nine penalty minutes. In his four year WHL career, all with Portland, the 6’1, 181-pound defenseman has skated in 181 games totaling 25 points (5g-20a) along with a plus-27 rating and 59 penalty minutes.

The left-shot blueliner joins Logan Barlage and Justin Hall as the ‘Canes three overage players. Nolan is expected to join the Hurricanes on their East Division road trip.

The Hurricanes continue a five game road trip on Tuesday when they visit the Winnipeg ICE at 6:00pm MT. The ‘Canes will return to the ENMAX Centre on Friday, November 19th when the welcome the Medicine Hat Tigers.
