Prince Albert, SK – The Lethbridge Hurricanes played the middle of a five-game road trip on Wednesday as they earned a come-from-behind 5-4 overtime victory over the WHL-leading Prince Albert Raiders.
The Hurricanes had a strong start to the game as they came up with an early penalty kill, helped by Carl Tetachuk who made a massive glove save on Noah Gregor to keep the game scoreless. Lethbridge opened the scoring at the 11:09 mark when Dylan Cozens snapped home his 29th goal of the year to make it 1-0; Nick Henry earned the lone assist on the tally. The Hurricanes struck again just 13 seconds later as Logan Barlage buried a one-timer to make it 2-0; Jordy Bellerive was credited with the lone assist. A power play goal by the Raiders cut the lead in half as Cole Fonstad had a shot pinball by Tetachuk to make it 2-1 Lethbridge after twenty minutes. Hurricanes were outshot 12-8 in the opening frame.
The Raiders had an early power play to start the second period and they would tie the game as Justin Nachbaur potted his 16th of the year at the 3:37 mark on a three-on-two to make it a 2-2 tie. Just 1:11 later though, the Hurricanes pulled back ahead as Cozens scored his second of the night and 30th of the season as he became the fourth Hurricane to reach the 30-goal plateau; Jake Elmer and Igor Merezhko picked up the assists on the goal. Raiders once again tied the game however as Spencer Moe banged home his eighth goal of the season at the 11:56 mark as the game was tied 3-3 after forty minutes of play. Shots favoured the Raiders 10-7 in the middle frame.
In the third period, the Hurricanes had a pair of early power play opportunities but were unable to capitalize with the extra man. Prince Albert pulled ahead at the 10:45 mark as Kaiden Guhle scored his third of the season to give the Raiders their first lead of the game, 4-3. The ‘Canes would tie the game though as Elmer snapped home his 33rd goal of the season with 2:17 left to extend his goal-scoring to ten straight games as he tied the game 4-4; Cozens earned the lone assist as the game went to overtime.
Shortly into overtime, Elmer pulled away on a breakaway and he beat Ian Scott crossbar down just 20 seconds into the extra session as the ‘Canes knocked off the Raiders 5-4 in extra time.
The Hurricanes were outshot 29-28 in the game. The ‘Canes went 0/5 on the power play while Prince Albert was 2/5 with the extra man.

The win for the Hurricanes ends a six-game losing streak against the Raiders dating back to last year as they end the regular season series with a 1-3-0-0 record against Prince Albert. The win for the ‘Canes improves their record to 6-2-0-0 in their last eight games and 33-18-5-5 on the season.
The Hurricanes continue their road trip on Friday when they visit the Moose Jaw Warriors at 6:00pm before wrapping up the road trip on Saturday afternoon in Regina against the Pats.
