Swift Current, SK – The Lethbridge Hurricanes ended a four game in five-night stretch on Saturday with a 5-3 victory in Swift Current against the Broncos.
The Hurricanes had a great start to the game as they outshot the Broncos early by an 8-1 count aided by a power play opportunity early in the game. Despite the ‘Canes with the early pressure, it was the Broncos that scored first when Jaxan Kaluski ripped home his fifth goal of the season past Bryan Thomson to make it 1-0 Swift Current 9:28 into the game. Lethbridge equalized on a beautiful solo-effort by Logan Barlage who fended off a defenseman before slipping home his ninth of the year to make it 1-1; Trevor Thurston earned the lone assist on the goal as the game was tied after twenty minutes of play. The ‘Canes outshot the Broncos 16-7 in the first period.
In the second period, the Hurricanes pulled ahead when Nick Dorrington scored his first ever goal in the Western Hockey League at the 2:36 mark to make it 2-1 for Lethbridge; Justin Hall and Chase Wheatcroft earned the assist on the Dorrington goal as he became the ninth Hurricane this season to score their first WHL goal. The ‘Canes struck again just 55 second later when Zack Stringer snapped home his third of the year beating Poulter over the glove to make it 3-1; Dylan Cozens was credited with the lone helper on the goal. Swift Current answered back to pull within a goal when Ethan Regnier tapped home a centering pass for his team-leading seventh tally of the year to make it 3-2 after two periods of play.
The ‘Canes had an early third period power play and they made good on the man advantage as Alex Cotton added to his WHL defenseman scoring lead slamming home his ninth goal and 34th point of the season to make it 4-2 just 3:14 into the final twenty minutes; Cozens and Cale Addison earned the assists on the goal. Lethbridge scored a shorthanded, empty-net goal when Cozens scored his 20th of the season between the Broncos rounded out the scoring with a late goal by Kaluski to make it a 5-3 final.
The Hurricanes outshot the Broncos 40-29 in the game. Lethbridge went 1/2 on the power play while Swift Current was 0/4 with the extra man.

The win for the Hurricanes ended a four-game losing streak as they improved to 3-0-0-0 against Swift Current this season. The ‘Canes improved their road record to league best 11-4-0-1 on the season while improving their overall record to 18-9-0-4 on the campaign.
