Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes continued a three-game homestand on Saturday as they 7-2 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings at the ENMAX Centre.
Hurricanes defenseman Calen Addison, who missed Wednesday’s game due to suspension, returned to the line-up for the ‘Canes against his hometown Wheat Kings. It didn’t take long for Addison to make his presence felt as he drew the primary assist on the opening goal at the 10:35 mark as Brad Morrison potted his 24th goal of the season to make it 1-0 Lethbridge with a power play goal; Jordy Bellerive picked up the secondary assist. On another power play, the ‘Canes struck again as Dylan Cozens redirected an Addison point shot for his 19th to make it 2-0 at the 12:39 mark; Bellerive once against got the secondary assist. Lethbridge outshot Brandon 18-8 in the first period.
The Wheat Kings cut the lead in half early in the second period as Connor Gutenberg buried his 17th goal of the season to make it 2-1 for the Hurricanes just 2:20 into the period. Brandon continued to press, but failed to beat Logan Flodell. The ‘Canes continued the power play dominance as Logan Barlage potted his sixth of the season to make it 3-1; Jake Elmer and Jadon Joseph earned the assists. Lethbridge added another power play goal as Addison fed Morrison on a stretch pass and the overage forward beat Logan Thompson for his 25th of the year and second of the night to make it 4-1; Flodell earned the second assist on the goal. Late in the period, Bellerive redirected a Ty Prefontaine point-shot home for his team-leading 43rd of the year to make it 5-1 ‘Canes after forty minutes of play. Shots were even 14-14 in the middle frame.
Brandon made a goaltending change to start the third period as Dylan Myskiw replaced Thompson; Myskiw was peppered early and just 1:20 into the final frame Egor Zudilov rifled home his sixth of the season ripping it high-glove side to make it 6-1 for the Hurricanes. The ‘Canes added another at the 10:04 mark as Taylor Ross finished off a three-way passing play as Barlage and Dylan Cozens picked up the assists. Brandon rounded out the scoring as Rylan Bettens potted a power play goal for his sixth of the season to make it a 7-2 final.
The Hurricanes outshot the Wheat Kings 40-31 in the game. Lethbridge went 4/4 on the power play and 4/5 on the penalty kill.

The win for the Hurricanes was their 30th victory of the year as they reach that mark for the third straight season; it was just their sixth win against the East Division this year. The ‘Canes now sit with an overall record of 30-25-6-0 on the season.
