PLAYOFF GAME DAY: Hurricanes Look to Stave Off Elimination in Game 6

Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes will look to stave off elimination tonight at 6:00pm as they host the Regina Pats at the ENMAX Centre in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Championship Series.

The Hurricanes face elimination for the fifth time in the 2017 WHL Playoffs after falling 5-3 in Game 5 on Friday night in Regina. The ‘Canes had two separate leads in Game 5 only to see the Pats tie both times. Josh Tarzwell, Ryan Vandervlis and Egor Babenko scored the goals in the losing cause.

The Pats took a 3-2 series lead with their second consecutive victory in the best-of-seven. Adam Brooks led the way for Regina picking up four assists in the game. Five different goal scorers lit the lamp for the Pats including Josh Mahura, Sam Steel, Filip Ahl, Dawson Leedahl and Austin Wagner.

Tonight’s Game 6 can be seen on the WHL on Shaw or heard on 106.7 ROCK.

PLAYOFF SERIES: Tonight will be Game 6 of the best-of-seven series between the Hurricanes and the Pats. The Pats lead the series 3-2. This is the second straight post-season that the ‘Canes and Pats have met after Regina eliminated Lethbridge in five games in the first round in 2016.

So We Meet Again: The Hurricanes and Pats will square off in the post-season for the second consecutive year. In the 2016 WHL Playoffs, the Hurricanes were eliminated by the Pats in five games in the first round of the post-season. After winning Game 1, the ‘Canes went on to lose the next four.

On the Brink: The Hurricanes will face elimination tonight in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Championship Series. The ‘Canes are 4-0 in the post-season when their season is on the line. The ‘Canes will look to force a seventh-and-deciding game on Tuesday back in Regina.

Oh, Giorgio: Giorgio Estephan has been racking up points. The four-year veteran has tossed 22 points (10g-12a) on the board in his last 15 games since returning from injury in Round 1 against Red Deer. The Hurricanes are 10-1-1 in the playoffs when Estephan records a point.

Seventh Heaven: The Hurricanes remained perfect in Game 7’s in their history as they earned a come-from-behind 5-4 overtime win in Medicine Hat last Tuesday in Game 7 to eliminate the Tigers. It was the second straight series in which the ‘Canes needed seven games to advance after they beat the Red Deer Rebels in seven games in the first round.
