Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes finished the 2019 portion of their home schedule on Saturday with a 6-0 shutout win over the Swift Current Broncos at the ENMAX Centre.

The Hurricanes started early as they opened the scoring on their first shot of the game when Justin Hall redirected home his eighth of the season just 1:14 into the contest to make it 1-0; Logan Barlage and Alex Cotton earned the assists on the season. Lethbridge added to their lead when Trevor Thurston jumped into the rush and rifled home his third of the season – second against the Broncos – to make it 2-0. Barlage added his 11th goal of the campaign at the 13:49 mark as he made it 3-0 after one period. Lethbridge outshot Swift Current 12-9 in the first period.

The ‘Canes continued to pepper former netminder Reece Klassen in the second period with 15 shots on goal. Klassen was strong in the middle frame making 14 saves as the lone goal that beat him came at the 7:31 mark when Jett Jones ended a 12-game goal drought deflecting a Koletrane Wilson point shot to make it 4-0; Chase Wheatcroft earned the second helper on the goal. The ‘Canes surrendered just six shots in the middle frame.

In the third period, the Hurricanes started down two men as the Broncos had a five-on-three power play but were unable to capitalize with the extended chance which overlapped from the end of the second period. The ‘Canes added to their lead as Jones shoveled home his second goal of the night – and fifth of the season – to make it 5-0. Lethbridge rounded out the scoring when Noah Boyko finished for his ninth of the season to make it a 6-0 final.

The ‘Canes had 37 shots on goal while the Broncos had 24 as Bryan Thomson stopped them all to complete his first career shutout in the WHL. Lethbridge went 0/4 on the power play but 8/8 on the penalty kill.
